I was at the Opera yesterday

Postby viking60 » 04 Oct 2012, 11:37

I went to the Opera yesterday and watched Puccinis Madama Butterfly. A real sad story of the disaster American Navy people sometimes left behind in Japan (That Pinkerton guy was no good). Madama Butterfly did exist and inspired this tragic and beutiful story. Puccini first watched the play in London, I belive, and beeing Italian he loved the drama so much that he begged the author to give him the rights so he could put music to it.

Olga Guryakova was madama Butterfly and I can report that she was not even fat!

The building is impressive too

And the seats are made for women and Japanese people - not for Berserks - so it was more a necessity to give a standing ovation, due to my legs and bottom, than the exitement over the music.
But by all means: the music was fantastic!
Here is a short animation of the story:
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.
