xvidcap

ImageXvidcap is a great tool for capturing anything inside an X-Windows display.
You can make mpeg videos or avi or a series of snapshots.
It is different from recordmydesktop in pinpointing the exact area to record from. And it is great for educational purposes.
You could do a complete Arch install in a VB and record it and then burn the result to a CD.

The quality is great (way better than this video where I picked the Mov format just to see if that can be uploaded to vimeo (it can! :-D )
:A

It is available as rpm (for Mandriva too) and in the Arch Aur (where pretty much anything is available). The motive in the movie is a section of my desktop where I have integrated a transparent urxvt terminal in the wallpaper - running htop.

:B That seems like a nice program. The resolution looks a lot better than the recordmydesktop videos I've seen. Watching one of the developer's videos, it looks pretty simple, records audio to the mpeg, too, and could be a way to do something instructive or have some fun! :s

Yes I can assure you that it does not look half as impressive on the web as it actually is. It generates a lot of images so it makes sense to make a separate directory for it. They can easily be deleted, by extension because you do not need them once the video is created.

Uploading the mpeg movie to vimeo works fine - and the quality is great. Now over to the contest: What website is this a part of?:

This xvidcap is great +1

Yes, that's very clear. And, from what I've read about this relatively simple and aged program, it's amazing how effective it is.
 What website is that, what website.....Image
That's the new bjoernvold.com CMS whatchamacallit.
