FireFox 20.0.1

Postby viking60 » 12 Apr 2013, 16:39

I upgraded firefox to version 20.0.1 and it keeps disappearing on me - It simply shuts down without warning. :berserkf That is most displeasing so I will downgrade it now.

It's not doing it to me with the tar.gz extracted to /home. I upgraded from the 19.(whatever) to the 20 today, still doing fine.

I'm sure there's got to be other ways to get it. I'll check it out on the morrow.

That was not the reason -firefox kept crashing after I had removed firefox-moonlight - so downgrading to version 19 helped.
It seems to happen all over the place:

And here is the Bug report

.......
And it has already been fixed - those Arch guys are fast and good +1 I will be waiting for it to hit the mirrors. And bang - it is there - this bug was fixed within 24 h :B

Wow. Wish the Mageia team would get on it; they are still on 17.05! For now, the tar.gz still works fine here. :)

On the bug, I'm a tad confused. Was it just the Arch version that was crashing, or did they in the end decide it was upstream? I'm wondering on upstream, since it's running fine here off the tar.gz extracted to /home.

Thanks.

They managed to fix it in Arch so the upstream package must have been OK.

Ah, OK. Had seen on the bug where someone had mentioned to poke upstream or someone at upstream about it, but didn't know if it had happened.
If it's not upstream related, then that must be why it's working here. I'm using the upstream tar.gz - Mageia's version (as it was with Mandriva, actually) is nowhere near kept updated.
