Iron 28 out today, for Windbloze and Linux

Postby dedanna1029 » 06 Aug 2013, 15:18

Although I don't understand the post, where it says that 32-bit for Linux will be out soon because they post it in that same post, but 28.0.1.1550.0 of SrWare Iron's browser was released today.

I tried the tarball, but the executable for it isn't working with the error:

Code: Select all

[galynda@galynda iron-linux-64]$ ./iron
./iron: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Normally, when an error happens in their tarball, it's across the board in their rpms and deb files. Before I was always getting a libbzip error when trying to execute the tarball or install the rpm.

Major fail for me for a while, so I'm not using it much any more, in fact haven't for a good while now (I get this in other distros too). If I use a browser like this it's google chrome now, which I hate to use for obvious reasons.

If you can get it to work, more power to you.

Edit to add: I've always tried linking these things, like linking libudev.so.1 to libudev.so.0, as I did with the libbzip error, but it never works.

Yep. Just tried the rpm, and:

Code: Select all

[root@galynda Iron]# urpmi iron64.rpm
A requested package cannot be installed:
iron64-28.0.1550-1.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied libudev.so.0()(64bit))
Continue installation anyway? (Y/n)

Yes their packaging is poor that is why Mageia won't have anything to do with it.
It is in the AUR under the name iron-bin and that works fine.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.
