Explaining the patent war!

A lot of people confuses Patents with Copyrights.

For example, Rolex makes a watch with a certain design but that, does not prevent anybody for making a better or worse watch. What is is illegal is the exact copy/clone of the design. Still, if is a look alike is not an infringement. For example, the called Knock Off purses, shoes, watches, etc... Designed to look almost but not identical to the high end ones.

In the engineering world there are countless cases of similar design because they are just practical or seems to be the most logical approach with the present technology. For example, a Cell Phones is a good one to mention. The designs are so similar since is the best way to approach the basic problems. What Apple seems to get all twisted up is idiotic things like a button on the phone.

In the world of IT/Electronics seems that line has been crossed and mutilated to the functionality part.

One of these days, these companies will eventually call a truce.
Everything will be so intricate and is setting itself for a gridlock with no room to improve, innovate, revenue will go down and that is what hurts the most, in the pocket.
