Cinnamon 1.2 is released

Cinnamon is the attempt to bring Gnome2 functionality back into Gnome 3. So far they have not been very close but with version 1.2 we have got back the option of placing our menu panels on top or bottom or both.
This is done by a newly developed Cinnamon control panel and not with the good old right click- but you can do it. Cinnamon will not be compatible with Gnome3-shells anymore.
This is a sign of their intention of going in a different direction than Gnome3-shell. It is not there yet but the direction fits.
They even have some effects back to animate Windows etc. this can be turned off. But it is there
