After an uograde to version 3,2 I got a bug in
cairo-dock where I could not alter the theme. The config options just disappeard. The solution is to simply delete the cairo dock directory:
So it can rebuild itself (KDE style). This will ruin all your adapted themes but the system will work again. This clearly is a bug so it just might re-appear.
