Valve is fearing Apple way more than Windows in the gaming market.
Valve will launch their Linux based Steambox with the help of hardware partners and they will probably succeed well. The doubt is if they will reach the computer with their games.
That is understandable considering the Linux Market share of about 2 % - but then again people will buy Linux computers due to Valves games.

"I think that there's a scenario where we see sort of a dumbed down living room platform emerging — I think Apple rolls the console guys really easily. The question is can we make enough progress in the PC space to establish ourselves there, and also figure out better ways of addressing mobile before Apple takes over the living room?
