Ubuntu is moving on with their mobile platform and has launched Ubuntu for tablets. They do not have an actual tablet but a set of specifications where Ubuntu would fit like Googles Nexus 7 and Nexus 10-tablets.

Ubuntu offers full multitasking and claim to already have a ton of Apps. Furthermore they offer voice control.
It is all nicely presented here
Here is a video where it is all explained:

So what do you think?

I pitched that idea in the Mandriva forum long time ago. As usual, fell on deft ears.

:B It's good to see Linux commercialized in what looks like an effective manner. However, I feel a little left out when Shuttleworth talks of 'desktop' and point to a lappy. :( This is a desktop:

It's good to see Linux gain a foothold in the market but I have some reservations about Ubuntu and what impact the influence of the success of those like Jobs and Shuttleworth might have on my FOSS computing. I can't afford to rush after whatever is trending and my needs/means are well-served by the traditional, lower-tech Linux, moreso.

Choice is good and I hope the choices that you don't get with Apple or Ubuntu don't go away with the success of commercialization.

I get that! Clearly someone is waiting for a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow - may it not ruin FOSS. But I do like that Linux is growing too +1
I think that a pragmatic attitude will bring Linux forward and political correctness may get you to heaven - but Berserks go to Valhalla anyway so....
Let us just wait and see with the axe ready in our hand. :berserkf
