Microcrap to run Linux on Azure

That's it. I'm officially way, way, way over the top TICKED! I never asked for Microsoft Linux, and I'll be damned if I'll support it now!!!

Joab Jackson | IDG News Service wrote:Suse, Cent0S, and Ubuntu virtual-machine images can be provisioned on Windows Azure
After years of battling Linux as a competitive threat, Microsoft is now offering Linux-based operating systems on its Windows Azure cloud service.

The Linux services will go live on Azure at 4 a.m. EDT on Thursday. At that time, the Azure portal will offer a number of Linux distributions, including Suse Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2, OpenSuse 12.01, CentOS 6.2 and Canonical Ubuntu 12.04. Azure users will be able to choose and deploy a Linux distribution from the Microsoft Windows Azure Image Gallery and be charged on an hourly pay-as-you-go basis.

That's it. I'm done. Time to find another OS. Microsh!t and Linux both can s*ck it.

Well if i read carefully between the lines here i suspect that you really dislike that :-D
What an irony; to put Linux on Windows servers. Much like dragging the Bugatti Veryon with a VW beatle.

I guess they are fighting for their right to get a virus infection.

All I'm going to say is just one question:
Do YOU want Microsoft to monopolize Linux like they do everything else?

You people better think on that one. It could happen.

I don't, and I think I'm damn smart not to. It's like our supposedly opposite political parties that mind-melded into one... was too easy for them to do.

Yup something like this:
You are already using Linux on a Windows server - why not drop it and go for the original?

They have proven that they are capable of saying anything to achieve their goals. ("Linux uses our software but we won't say where or what")
Exept maybe this:
We want a monopoly where MS products are the only choice!

But that is only because they are not completely honest.

I remember at the Obama campaign even, in Woodland Park, CO back in '08 everyone used a customized Ubuntu (unfortunately I regretted working that one week into Obama's pReZa-dent-cy). We've had this supposed Open Source For America initiative (which, if nothing else is supposed to keep the Open Source way of thinking alive and in use (notice I stopped posting about it in Pols & Rels? What purpose would it have served to keep that thread going?), supposed transparency in government (and how transparent is it, reallly?), Occupy Wall Street, and not only Bradley Manning's release, but Veterans calling for Peace, and that's just to name a few.

All of these people supposedly have progressive thought, yet have they thought about the computer they're using to communicate on these initiatives with?

I have to wonder, if they did, what would happen? If they had just a seed dropped, would they go for a real revolution to keep Open Source prevalent in our society, in ways of thought and on their computers both? If they knew and could see in black and white how Microsoft is another corporation trying to take over not only the U.S. but the world, and doesn't care how ruthless they are about it, would it be another corporation that they'd protest loudly? So far, all I see honestly trying to fight Microsoft, is the EU, in particular, in the UK.

What does that say for society and people in general in the world? Seriously, people all over the world? What does it say for them?

Or, would they remain the stupid-blind-as-a-bat-I-don't-wanna-know sheeple?

I'm sorry, but it has to be said. There's two choices for people in this. Either wake up, and see what's right, and do it, or remain in the sheeple state, and go on with their Microsoft Monopoly shite. Brutally honest, but then shouldn't we be? Use that software that costs hundreds of dollars for crappy, always insecure code, from a corporation that is taking them over almost completely, or use Open Source software, and know that one is secure in thought and in deed, for free.

I'm sorry (no, I'm not, really), I can not fathom sometimes how stupid people are. Unfortunately, any more, there's only one cure for it, and that's to call them as they are (and even that doesn't do it a lot of times).

Edit 1: Wouldn't it be nice...

Edit 2: /ends rant
