Windows 8.1 is pulled back again

ImageWindows 8.1 has been pulled back from the Windows store again

This is likely due to an error in the boot sector that can leave your hardware unbootable.
This goes for Windows 8.1 RT.

It will stay removed until Microsoft has had time to "look into the problem".

The RT version is made for the ARM devices like pads and phones but also laptops with touch screens - and it is mainly there where MS excludes other software with their UEFI secure boot signature.
I bet they did not mean to exclude themselves though.

Outlook email program has become un-useable with the new version of IE (many will accept that as a safety feature).

It is possible to rescue the system with a startup USB.

Cool! Maybe people who already downloaded it and are borked will turn to Linux!

Bork away, MS! It's better for us!

:-D I almost feel sorry for them these days. Nobody can trust them (thanks to NSA). Nobody wants their ARM solutions and PC sales are down.
I think MS get the privacy issues - but that does not matter as long as they are instructed by the NSA.
Facebook and Google do not get it at all.

I would not say thanks to the NSA. It's MS' own fault that they chose to cooperate with the NSA.

But then if the NSA weren't so greedy to exist in the first place,,,
