Microsoft touts 300,000 Windows Phone 7 dev-tool downloads

Not much of a news story - But Microsoft has a lot of people working on systems for Win 7 on Cell phones. The real news would be an actual phone with win 7.
But isn't that to late?

I don't think so. I'm one of the members that thinks Win 7 rocks. Used it at my former place of work - 10 to 15 second boot from cold start in the morning to desktop fully loaded, and did everything I needed it to. Any time is a good time for this. IMHO it's time for XP to go away.

Well networking with Linux is a nightmare in Win7 not so in XP. But on a cellphone I think Win has lost already,

Cell Phone OS and Desktop OS are way too different animals.

On the Smart Phone world the Arm processor is king, the Desktop and sad to say, is Intel.

MS is more tweaked to Intel or lets say x86 Architecture.

There are a lot of issues converting the Win7 from Intel to Arm so it can be usable.

On that arena, Android and Apple blew MS systems off the water.

And as I said the before, the Android Interface will be the one that will break the Linux phobia.

Users does not give a rat's ass if you are running Linux or not, but they do care on what the Interface looks.

I am wondering, why there is not a GNOME or KDE phone interface yet?

Perhaps the Tablet market since is a new gadget will break the learning phobia.

I can say MS will not be as dominant as it was before.

Moblin is another one.

Joste has maemo running on his phone, a Nokia N900.

Edit: According to him also, there is a merger happening to form meego.

Cell Phones are the perfect place to try new GUIs.
The reason been is these devices are so dynamic in nature.
Each manufacturer creates new ones at a very high rate and they are very different from each others.
So people are used to learn new UIs all the time that and is the norm.

For Cell Phone users, a Windows phone is just another phone.
But a PC they want the MS GUI, but that is about to change :D
