Fedora 18 is out

Fedora 18 is out with a completely rewritten installer. It also comes with the ROSA panel if you choose to install it.
According to this review it is ...crap. Apparently Fedora is going for the smartphone style too, and that simply does not work well on desktops. :naughty:

In general I tend to agree: Smartphone OS's belong on smartphones - no need to destroy the desktop with it. I have not installed Fedora 18 yet though.

Adam Williamson (who, of course, works for Red Hat) does not exactly give F18 a resounding endorsement. :)

Thanks Jim!
That is a good explanation though. Fedora is one of the most important distros so I guess they will have to go over the entire structure once in a while.

Cox calls the new Fedora release, "the worst Red Hat distro I've ever seen." Alan ended up switching to Ubuntu as a result of his disastrous experience with Fedora 18...

Thanks rolf
A pattern seems to be emerging here: Fedora 18 is no good :hand:
Regarding structural changes Fedora always is in front, but it is not the first with the latest programs, in that department Arch is way ahead (and rather stable again after a somewhat painful transition to systemd).
