Yeah, they are. It's like I said another time here, they never should have left Open Source. Now, they're just another money-hungry greedy corporate America company. Sad, really. Back in the days when they were so great with the video stuff, they should have stayed on the Open Source bandwagon. They could've made a killing with it.

Yep, because it doesn't exclude those who can't afford, which is a large part of the population world-wide.

Oh yes I can see that, but what would be the source of income for Apple. Is it the music? I dunno I have never used the stuff. I just got shocked when a friend asked me to help him with his Mac. In order to install openoffice he needed a newer version of the OS (3 or 4 versions newer than he had).
Do you think he could pay for only one upgrade? oh no he was supposed to buy every singel version in between too. Thats when I got sick of it.
I just promised him to install Linux on the box and meanwhile he uses Win.
He is a musician so I do not have an overview on how good or bad Linux is at that yet.

I would think that it would come in the form of proprietary packages if they need them. Also, they could have people pay a small fee to upgrade, rather than charge an exhorbitant fee for a whole new OS. I think you know as well as I do that there's a whole host of things that could be done with Open Source. Of course, not that it works for Mandriva.

Yes and with the much bigger foundation they wold make a lot. Mandriva is broke, that is Mandrivas problem. And of course the free Marketing the community was offering, was turned down. No one can understand that bit. It is just a sloppy piece of work.
