Apples with OS X Lion have set a new record with more than 650000 machines infected with the flashback trojan. Now they have released an important AV update:

The flashback virus presents itself as a false flashplayer update, and uses a weaknes in Java to achieve this (Oracles net-app).
To remove it you can follow this

Some more info on this.
Microsoft Office is used to infect computers with OS X. The trojan is called Backdoor.OSX.SabPub.a and exploits a weaknes on the Mac with MS-Office-programs and Orales Java.
It spreads as Flashback by exploiting the hole in Java. This hole means that it is not detected by security software.
And the user gets infected by loading the infected MS-Office document

hhmmm.
Passing the info on to Mac users that I know. At first I was under the impression that this could be cured with updates, but I'm seeing now that... um, no.

Well, we can always hope they don't pull off a Microshaft, where the updates actually make things worse sometimes.
