Sound like they can do whatever they like (throw in a few terrorists and pedophiles and no one will protest).
That is the problem: Privacy goes down the drain and we are not even informed in a transparent way, efficiently depriving us of the opportunity to influence a very important issue.

Meaning that the retained data might be used for far less serious crimes and maybe even to arrest some 15 year old DMR violators.
If the data are there; they will be used and abused - everyone who did not flunk in history knows that...

Oh I think, in this country, at least, that much power is wielded, the lion share of taxes are spent by agencies who conduct their business of wars, of "nation-building", of puppet regimes in "Top Secret", without accountability to the laws under which the taxpayers must toil in their enforced ignorance.
This "Democracy" has just begun its cyclic process of choosing who would wield this power in a ritualistic celebration of the elevation of one lying perversion of humanity over his/her peers in the Iowa caucus.
