Google Chromium seems to have lost Client id tracker

Postby viking60 » 04 Jun 2012, 13:06

I had to install Chromium instead of Iron browser in Arch due to the new handling of udev.
udev is now a part of systemd-tools and the Iron browser did not handle that to well so I had to loose it, and install Chromium.

One of the big no-no's of Chromium is the unique client_id that is given you during installation that makes it possible for Google to track every search movement in the browser.
This is normally kept in ~/.config/chromium/'Local State'
Under the section (near the bottom) "user_experience_metrics" there used to be a client_id and it is now gone! :B
So they have done what they promised to do here

This shows that our attention is not in wane and that Google is smart enough to react when we protest. We Know they have a tendency to sneak stuff in there without documenting it so we must continue to be aware.

This does show that awareness helps though..
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.
