I hate DRM it is only designed for censorship. The Sony root kit being the most famous example. It is a fact that when I buy I DVD with some movie or music. I Own that copy - and it is not limited to the lifetime of the media.That means that I am entitled to copy it to a new and better media. Hollywood should not put any movie out there (Yeah that would not help sales - but my hardware is left alone) Let the people go to the theater. No one will go you say? So what? They should stop tampering with my hardware for their own marketing.

it's ridiculous because it's possible in the first place. The FCC (and the candy-ass consumer electronics companies) allowed for Selectable Output Control to be inserted into your devices even though they claimed all along that they would never allow it to be used. Read your Chekhov, people: the gun on the mantelpiece in act one will go off in act three. Allowing the MPAA to get SOC in your set-top box but "never planning on using it" is like buying a freezer full of chocolate ice-cream and never planning on eating it.
