Ignorance and stupidity

Postby gnuuser » 10 Sep 2010, 14:33

many people think Ignorance and stupidity are the same thing,
But they are not.

Ignorance is not knowing or haven't learned!
But this can be corrected :T

Stupidity on the other hand is knowing and still doing is spite of better judgment.

example a lot of thrill seekers will do something incredibly dangerous even when the know their chances are not good
that is just plain stupid.

how many stupid things do you see every day?

Yeah. I do.

But I'm going to die statistically by the time I'm 95 anyway. We all gotta go sometime, and in fact, I hope it's via a heart attack. At least they're quick.

Statistically, even smoking and with our age difference (he's younger), I'll outlive Joste. Go figure.

I also don't mind saying publicly, that I smoke pot, too. I smoke it because there are no known medications that can handle or work for my PTSD, and it does. I know. I've been on just about everything known, and have had to go back off it within 2 months of starting it.

Joste doesn't smoke pot, however. Says it puts him to sleep. LOL.

Yup Death needs a reason! No one is going to survive anyway.
So the thrill seekers may be the smart ones. Yes they know their chances are not good - and so do we.

To be honest, I've seen thrill seekers outlive couch potatoes. They're more active; keeps the blood circulating, keeps one fit, and keeps the mind active as well.

Yup It is a matter of being a healthy corps or a sick corps. You sure are going to be dead at some point in time anyway. :D

Ignorance is Knowledge Base
Stupidity is Intelligence Based

So if you do not know and does not have a lick of common sense you a Stupid Ignorant.

Ignorance can be fixed, but you can not fix Stupid

Well, I love the thrill and the rush that is tied to it.

Is the risk taking that drives it.
You know is dangerous but you do it anyhow since you are playing the odds and want to beat them.

when you skydive you have a chute and a backup chute
first a safety and second a redundant safety measure
scuba divers as well as sky divers take some intensive training and follow strict guidelines
most climbers use safety ropes too
you could say these are thrill seekers
I used to catch rattlesnakes (but not without taking proper gear and anti-venom with me)

but the people I'm talking about take risk's without preparing for emergency.
purely a lack of common sense!
I suppose that qualifies as stupidity
I mean where is the common sense of trying to jump a skateboard down a large set of steps?
or trying to jump a street bike off of a makeshift ramp?
sure its fun to try, but concrete and pavement is not soft at all

I kind of think this takes the cake on both ignorance and stupidity...
