Oh yea when a IBM machine can beat those acknowledged Geniuses. In that demanding game - we better start praying! The machines are taking over But there is still hope: IBM's Watson Ties for Jeopardy Lead, Victory Not Certain If it is any consolation Watson runs on Linux! But we knew that! It is amazing what it can do. But if it gets out of line we still have the governor of California to send after him! Ha! Take that Watson!

I second that dedanna Watson is one of the worlds supercomputers. It has artificial intelligence. The fact that Jeopardy is a game, is completely beside the point This does not belong in Gaming. And it is all over the news http://tinyurl.com/5wlbdt9 This is the existential topic of Machine taking over the territory of man. And Dubigrasus fear that it will be the end of us. Luckily we have Arnold Schwarzenneger. The challenge of speech recognition and processing the oral information into an answer formed as a question, is quite some challenge for a computer. Also it has to be faster than the humans. Latest: Watson won by a mile and earned one million Dollars And did I mention that it runs on Linux?

while watson is classed as artificial intelligence it is still a machine responding to input with a selection of recorded data.
when it is capable of independent, random, and spontaneous thought it will then truly be artificial intelligence
even then it will be nowhere near the capabilities of the human brain.
the human brain is a tremendously complex electro-chemical computer with nearly limitless storage capability.
and although watson is fast and has such a large array of storage drives it is limited to the stored data (best analogy to illustrate this is looking in a few buckets for a colored ball)
watson is a remarkable piece of engineering none the less
