In Gnome3's System Settings-->Mouse and Touchpad, don't even think about turning on "Show position of pointer when the Control key is pressed". It renders the Ctrl key useless. I like to use Ctrl+PrintScreen for taking a screenshot of a window, and it rendered that useless; in fact anything that required the Ctrl key was useless. Here's what it does when you hit the Ctrl key with that on:
