When you open a terminal and write

Code: Select all

sensors
it will show your fan speed and temperature etc. I have noticed a huge difference from box to box so now I a curious:
What does sensors show on your box?
Here is one of mine:

Code: Select all

:) sensors
atk0110-acpi-0
Adapter: ACPI interface
Vcore Voltage:      +1.02 V  (min =  +0.80 V, max =  +1.60 V)
 +3.3 Voltage:      +3.23 V  (min =  +2.97 V, max =  +3.63 V)
 +5 Voltage:        +5.07 V  (min =  +4.50 V, max =  +5.50 V)
 +12 Voltage:      +12.03 V  (min = +10.20 V, max = +13.80 V)
CPU FAN Speed:     2008 RPM  (min =  600 RPM)
CHASSIS1 FAN Speed:   0 RPM  (min =  600 RPM)
CHASSIS2 FAN Speed:   0 RPM  (min =  600 RPM)
CHASSIS3 FAN Speed:   0 RPM  (min =  600 RPM)
POWER FAN Speed:      0 RPM  (min =    0 RPM)
CPU Temperature:    +37.0°C  (high = +60.0°C, crit = +75.0°C)
MB Temperature:     +35.0°C  (high = +45.0°C, crit = +75.0°C)

And here is one of my laptops:

Code: Select all

k10temp-pci-00c3
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1:        +56.5°C  (high = +70.0°C)
                       (crit = +115.0°C, hyst = +107.5°C)

radeon-pci-0008
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1:        +57.0°C

A real computer:

Code: Select all

# dmidecode |grep -i p5q
        Product Name: P5Q DELUXE

$ sensors
atk0110-acpi-0
Adapter: ACPI interface
Vcore Voltage:      +1.08 V  (min =  +0.80 V, max =  +1.60 V)
 +3.3 Voltage:      +3.34 V  (min =  +2.97 V, max =  +3.63 V)
 +5 Voltage:        +5.02 V  (min =  +4.50 V, max =  +5.50 V)
 +12 Voltage:      +12.10 V  (min = +10.20 V, max = +13.80 V)
CPU FAN Speed:     2163 RPM  (min =  600 RPM)
CHASSIS1 FAN Speed: 986 RPM  (min =  600 RPM)
CHASSIS2 FAN Speed: 902 RPM  (min =  600 RPM)
CHASSIS3 FAN Speed:1534 RPM  (min =  600 RPM)
POWER FAN Speed:   3924 RPM  (min =  600 RPM)
CPU Temperature:    +26.0°C  (high = +60.0°C, crit = +95.0°C)
MB Temperature:     +36.0°C  (high = +45.0°C, crit = +95.0°C)

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0:      +39.0°C  (high = +78.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

coretemp-isa-0001
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 1:      +34.0°C  (high = +78.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

I don't take the sensors values literally but, after years of development, I think they are pretty close. There is a side fan on the case, pointing at the cpu and I try to pay attention to heat, the grim reaper of electronics.
