Smart phones. Ugh.

Postby dedanna1029 » 26 Oct 2011, 01:13

Well, I'm going to have to take the plunge. The qwerty keyboard is way too helpful to me, so I'm going to have to get a phone with one. Is there such an animal as a cell phone that's not a smart phone that has a qwerty keyboard? Was thinking on the LG900G or LG500G, which have qwerty keyboards. $50 p/mo. unlimited everything, only 5 cents+your regular minute rate for international. The 900G appears to have a larger screen than the 500G, eyesight's bad. The problem being, they're smart phones, aren't they?

The Samsung here, the T401G is looking good, too.

I really really need the qwerty keyboard. My hands, neck, etc. are getting really bad, and it would have to be Net10 service here. Ideas?

Thanks.

LG optimus 2x is a good value for money phone, but you do not get your qwerty keyboard there.
HTC Desire Z is a good Android phone with QWERTY.
And why not LG as you say.
Basically smart phones are a privacy problem. And everything involving Google will probably be the worst in that department. On the other hand the source is open so it can be fixed. Has anyone noticed how Google is nagging about your cell phone number lately?
Meego (Nokia) was not so bad in that area, but it is more or less dead since Nokia has to go for Microsoft now.
Apple is bad and closed. But it is an important token of your successful lifestyle and you will get whiter teeth if you use it regularly.
Samsung sure it is good and big.

There is no smartphone that is good for your privacy - so you need to be aware and "take the fifth". Based on that it does not matter much what you pick.
And I am in no position to give advice because I do not have a smartphone, but I thought I'd give you my 2 cents anyway :-D

Any one else with experience here?

I can vouch for HTC phones in the USA. My wife had an Aria and now she uses an Inspire they work extremely well. The people that I know that had Samsung they suffer random reboots and crap of that nature. Perhaps is the service provider; they used T Mobile, Verizon and US Cellular. I use the Evil AT&T that is not much evil than any other.

The one that I like best is the BlackBerry (RIM). I have a 9000 Bold and work so well... :B
