A new hobby for you -PCjacking

Postby viking60 » 03 Jan 2012, 08:36

Every computer store has computers with Windows on them. We all know that this is not a quality sign but simply a forced result.
So go PCjacking to inform the masses and have some fun.
Here is how it is done:
Burn a CD of Puppy or Knopix (or any distro where you do not have to answer a lot of questions) and write this on it:
This is a Linux CD that will not in any way disturb the installation on this PC. To restore just remove this CD and reboot. If you are a professional and know your trade then let Linux run and inform the customers about yet another shining opportunity that goes with the product.; that despite Microsofts efforts, is not exclusively reserved for Windows.

Take your bicycle to the nearest computer store where PC's are set up for everyone to check out and put your CD in there and reboot!
(They are there for you to check out - so that is what you are doing  I don't see anything illegal in it.)
While rebooting take a step back and study the PC with an innocent and interested face. If the resolution is fine and everything fits; take up your smartphone that is designed for spying, and take a picture of your accomplishment!
You are just passing by and taking a pic of an admirable Linux installation in a computer store - you don't see that every day so it is only natural to take a pic.

And then what do you do?
You post the picture here ofcourse +1

Having taken the pic just leave it and feel good about yourself for donating a CD to the shop and for providing information the customers would not get otherwise. It may take a whole day before the sales people actually discover it. This will bring back the balance to the force :starwars2

Crazy idea? Yeah that is why we love it. And yet it makes perfect sense +1
May the force be with you :starwars1

What fun! :dance1

Being as how I don't have a bicycle, I'll offer this interesting, in a similar vein, little computer deal, pre-loaded with Linux, that came to my inbox.

Hm not the best of specs but it really and truly is dirt cheap. If it works with Ubuntu; Arch will work wonders with it.
I like it! Checking out the European prices..... Or do you think there is free shipping to Valhalla? :berserkf
It looks good from behind too:
