... When you rock a whole lot of people down for hours and hours, and at the end of it all you blow their minds by saying "This has all been brought to you by Linux, 'cause Linux ROCKS!", when they had no clue that all along through it, it was coming from a Linux box!

+1 And when they get to know it, they are disappointed that you cannot do all that fantastic stuff on Windows!

Yup! One of the ones listening yesterday was someone who at the end said "I have Linux Mint on another box. Going to go get in it now. Have had issues with mp3s on it."

I told them that I was running Arch; in the end they decided to install it LOL...

Yeah Arch is solid. But not the easiest install for a newbie.

That's what I said. Passed along a lot of links on it including the beginner's guide.

Yeah but those are for Arch beginners not Linux beginners. If they fix it they will have a great distro though.

Well, he had Linux experience. He already was running Mint, so... we got talking from there, and that's when he said he'd like to try out Arch.

Edit: My own opinion is that Arch isn't hard to install either; it's just that the setup takes a lot of time. If someone relatively new to Arch follows the Beginner's Guide step by step, it can be a good Linux learning experience; one sees a lot of what makes Linux tick, and how. It's good Linux time to spend.

I have everyone who is installing Arch for the first time print that out, as they'll never be lost following it. I memorized it for the most part some time back, I've done so many Arch installs. Now I just go for it; the installation itself only takes me an hour or so at best. The rest is all setting up and tweaking things to the way I want them (and occassionally I have a pulseaudio issue or so to sort out lol).

Compared to Mandriva Suse and Ubuntu Arch is hard to install. So if it is hard or not is relative.
