andLinux runs native in your Windows

ImageFor most Linux users this is completely back-words but as a testing environment it could win some Windows users over.
andLinux can be installed in Windows and runs as Ubuntu! You do not need a virtual machine just install and go.

So if you want to do the monumental mistake of letting the inferior OS controlling the good one this is the distro for you.
Once you get used to it you will of course do it the other way around in a VM.
But still it is a place to start.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

If I absolutely have to have windows, I just dual-boot it for the time I need it, then remove it lol.
