The rank system

Postby viking60 » 15 Apr 2010, 23:00

When you start out you will soon be
1.Junior Viking
After a few posts you become
2 Viking
After 50 posts you become:
3 Berserk
That makes you bad ass experienced

Now there are some honorable titles like Guru.
Those people are deservingly elected and can choose if they want to keep the honorable title or if they want to become a Berserk (tough choice).

I just love it! :!: :!: :!: When you reach 50 it's a deal
Fattigmann is a poor "Bad word describing a person" and also a kake, so I am not too keen about that one

It is the only Norwegian I ever learned.
My Dad's folks were from Norway. Once or twice Mom made Christmas cookies that were long, thin, rather plain pastries sprinkled with powder sugar, iirc. (Almost 50 yrs. ago!) Also, iirc, we were told they were called 'fattigmann' and that it meant 'fat man'.
Just trying to be international! :P

You clearly know about our traditions. The cookie (I called it kake because I am a foreigner:) is indeed what I was referring to.
I believe it got its name because it was cheap to make, so poor people could afford it.
You see "fattig" means poor, not fat. So the cookies name is poor(as in no money) man.
Here it is easier, it still is called "fattigmann". And I eat it every Christmas. With your name I was surprised that you lived in the US I was convinced you were a Norwegian (or maybe Danish), so it figures.

One of the things I miss about living in Grand Forks, ND, is that I never learned a single word of Norwegian (was predominantly a Norwegian area there).
