Trying to figure a way to break into my old desktop PC to get some things off the hard drive, first to check if there is anything left of that computer.
Is there a way to ssh into it or something from my netbook? Any way with any tool at all? If not, is there a way I could pull the hard drive from it and check it with the netbook?
Thanks.
Can this be done?

You used to talk about your external usb drives. I've taken one of those apart and changed the hard drive.
Also, there's a pretty common and cheap adapter to connect sata/ide disks via usb to any computer.
Here's one of many: USB 2.0 to IDE/ SATA Converter Cable
I think the problem is your monitor is broken, OS works ok? Someone else will have to tell you about ssh but there needs to be a running os with an ssh daemon installed and running. Maybe you could connect it to some TV screen?

Yeah, the monitor is broken, but there were other things going as well.
I'd forgotten the usb drive trick. That may be the way to go. Or, the cable, either one. Thanks.
