How often will your car reboot?

Postby viking60 » 26 Jun 2012, 22:08

ImageMicrosoft is going for the car industry!
Brands Like Ford Fiat and Kia will be filled with MS technology: Integration with Windows 8, Windows Phone devices, Kinect, Windows Live, Bing, cloud application platform Azure, and voice recognition tech TellMe.
There seems to be agreement that this will be a totally new experience.

I wonder how often those cars will have to "reboot".....

I guess I will be keeping and buying my older cars until I die.

I went to a Ford dealer to check out the new Fusion.
Asked if all came with MS Sync and they say yes, they do as standard feature; can be removed?
They also said no.

Shit, Ford lost a new costumer.

If I have to get one because of no choice; will love to hack it or disable it.

Waitaminit. I'm trying to understand how this is news when I worked for the company who handled Microsoft's development in the car industry four years ago, and we worked help desk for it? They still do? Developing for BMW, and other auto companies, especially, but not solely at the Germany location?
