Great -please do!
I think you have solved several issues here not only the chkrootkit being in the repos but also its cooperation with msec (which is a bit off topic compared to your header).

May or not have, but even if may have, it still doesn't explain why, out of the clear blue sky, I had to solve them in the first damn place. Just WHY was chkrootkit (or anything else that was making all this work) not there all of a sudden? Just WHY did it stop mailing me when it was set to? This just leaves more questions than answers for me, and it ticks me off I had to go through all this in the first place, when things were working fine, just to not really have any answers. Also, just WHY when I reschedule things, do they NOT just reschedule, simply do it?

At any rate, notifications are on my desktop that msec had run a security and diff check, did it mail me too? NO. AND it is also lying to itself, saying that it did with a mail.daily.today file that has today's date on it.

Well as I understand it:
chrootkit is found and in the repos = SOLVED

Msec and mailing would be another topic.
As much as we would like to; it would be hard to follow and solve all problems you have in one thread.

Works now, thanks. I guess the changes to make it work just had to catch up. There are still unanswered questions, as to why it disappeared from installed apps in the first place.
