Gnome 3 - again new status same conlusion.

As you might remember I was using Gnome 2 and I was happy with it. With great expectations I updated to Gnome 3 and....wondered how the devs could get such a massive brain stroke.

I tried to like it and tweaked oh well you can still read about it here:

Every time I meet a Gnome user I get the Gnome is much better now speach so I must try it again etc.

So I did.. and found it just as hopeless as before.

If you update Gnome 3 is likely to drop many extensions. Smartphone hot corner style is not for me and actually disturbs the workflow. I could go on but the bottom line is:

Gnome 3 simply is not what I want and Gnome 2 was +1 this has not changed.

I suppose Gnome must be strong on networking and some under the hood stuff since Fedora Centos etc ship it as default. But as a DE it really is as bad as I remember it.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

Good to know, although I haven't tried any recent versions and won't - I was almost tempted on this install of Mageia, but thought the better of it. Glad I did now.
