That could mean that the pictures, documents, and programs are gone and you can only get them back if you are willing to pay for them.

So when the marketing guys at droppox tells you how fantastic the stuff is for syncing your Mobile phone and your Laptop and PC, you might well be updating the other PC's as well.
Dropbox is very open about the responsibilities - You are responsible they are not:
You acknowledge and agree that you should not rely on the Site, Content, Files and Services for any reason.
That is the truth! They said so themselves - you better listen!
You can of course put your stuff in private folders but in that case Dropbox can still access them according to the above. So that makes the following question interesting:

In any case you better do not listen to any advice given by them, that states otherwise:
NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED FROM DROPBOX OR THROUGH THE SITE, CONTENT, FILES OR SERVICES, WILL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY MADE HEREIN.
So to sum it up: You can trust dropbox to:
Access your private folder if they choose to.
To not take any responsibillity regarding your data.
