Is it hard to install Linux?

Postby viking60 » 27 Oct 2010, 21:42

The most obvious question has not been answered here. In short the answer is no! You put your CD in and boot and the installations starts. For Mandriva Suse and Ubuntu you just answer easy questions and click your way through it. It is much faster to install than Windows too. :tux5:
If in doubt you can always pick the default option.
No problem whatsoever - believe it :!: Because it is true.

Try Arch and FreeBSD sometime.

Arch isn't hard for me; it's just very time-consuming to set up. I've spent upwards of 13-14 hours straight working on setting it up; even have that documented here on the forum.

It's so worth it though. Never have had as stable of a distro as Arch. In fact, I'm still debating on breaking it deliberately so I have something to do. :P
FreeBSD isn't even anywhere near as stable.

I think this is where the noobs will start looking, And they should NOT start with those distros. Later in another thread maybe.
My point is Installing Linux is easy! No need to get technical and advanced here +1
