Yeah, I hadn't thought of that Viking. I haven't run cooker in so long, or Mandriva for that matter, I'd totally slipped on it. Moved way on past it.

Clarification is definitely necessary, as to what is going to happen. And, I still think that was an insider planting too about someone taking it over. It started with a tweet that blino did that Anne retweeted, and it happened out of the clear blue sky, one similar to this one but further back IIRC (I'm trying to find it now). Someone needs to make something happen with the distro.

Also R_Head, I agree about Ulteo. Great distro itself, that one. Boss, have you tried it?

I'm sorry. Didn't mean to imply that; assumed you knew what happened to him after he left Mandriva.

I still have yet to try it, but have heard good things about it. Even downloaded it several months ago, just never got the chance to get it installed.

Anne is leaving. She sure was the most beautiful employee of the Mandriva system And she has been fronting the company on many occasions where I would have expected others to step up.

The countdown for D-day (17.sept) is on. A clarification of Mandriva's business is expected on the General assembly. Personally I do not know what to think. I do not like the uncertainty around the distro.
The community is not prepared to step up and take over - so it seems.
Everything is working just fine here though -no complaints so far. It still beats every other distro out there. Even If Arch is a favorite of mine there is no competition there, because the distros are to different.

The problem with this situation is that no one will risk setting up his Business with Mandriva these days. Business people hate uncertainty.

Mandriva has a good intellectual property.

What is under Mandriva? Lycoris and Conectiva? I think there is more.

If I have the cash, I would bought or invested in Mandriva and started creating a Tablet system.

If I'd had the cash to throw around, I would've bought it, seen if I could've gotten some of the old devels back, and continued the distro as-is... then gone from there with other things. Worked with the community, seen what I could do there to repair that relationship, and follow the best of their input. At the end of the day, it's the community that makes the distro; the devels just put it together from their input, and there are people in the community that make good business sense. Gather ideas, and just do what I could to keep the business going, and develop it further.

I think there's a huge lesson to be learned there. ^^

The domain name alone of mandriva.com is a nice and good one; would've probably worked on the site too in order to give it more advertising and attention. Wish I could buy that, at least.

Oh, and these days, it appears to me anyway, that there is Turbo Linux and Fedora under the hood - the installer alone reminds me of Fedora's.

Yes Fedora would be a natural place to find code for Mandriva. I have also noticed when the kernel line is not set up correctly I get the boring Fedora loadbar
So there is a lot of Fedora under the hood, probably on every RPM distro. I have said it before: Fedora is one of the most important distros out there.
It just isn't the best - It is good mind you. (And it is debatable)
