W00t!
I knew it was coming, but couldn't remember when. Time to format that secondary hdd and go for it. I'm hoping they straightened out the bug in the kernel, and it can actually install (unlike F12) on this machine. ;)

Thanks to Dave Jones' blog (Dave Jones works for Red Hat/Fedora) for talking about it; I hadn't seen it talked about or reported anywhere else. I had to do some real digging about the issue with F12 (you can ask majorlinux about that one; he was helping me grasp at straws with it).

Dave even gets cluster headaches like I do, or so it seems; he still has to get it confirmed. It's just the way the doctors are leaning. Cluster headaches are a real bitch, so I feel for him big time (as he should me; but wait, he doesn't know I get them too, so I forgive him lol). :(

His blog is great; he writes so just about anyone can understand what's going on, even those not Linux-literate, so check it out (sorry, awilliamson, I like his blog better)!

i tried fedora 10 a while back, or at least i think it was 10. had some problem with the sound and vlc wouldn't play videos smoothely but if you want a distro without multimedia i guess it worked fine for its use, i got it working in other players and older versions of vlc but installing older software to get music to play seems futile to me.
And getting the other players to work would require a lot of codec downloads which is stupid when vlc includes allmost every codec there is, except for Real Media files which i have no use for anyway. Also imho the distro was bloated with a lot of software i didn't realy need.

well, it's good that someone makes such guides, but it seems it wants to use pulse instead of alsa. had problems with pulse-audio before it made some programs crash, and me and my friends have this saying if your program crashes/freezes/doesn't do what it's supposed to do a killall pulse-audio, and the weird thing is... it works every time.

Do you have any other guides to suggest? I'm all for trying different methods. The one above was the only one I know about.

majorlinux, Fedora people do a real bang-up job on their site in the wiki. Check that out, okay?

And, I'll be installing it maybe this coming weekend... not sure. Depends on how bad I want Arch back at that time. hdd died on me this last weekend, so had to pull a switcheroo.

well yeah, it's set up quite good. i would like to set up a gentoo built from scratch for my computer, but that would crash with my studies, and it's allready enough to learn in this wonderfull world of information technology
