Facebooks Zuckerberg explaining data colletion

Postby viking60 » 16 Nov 2011, 17:01

Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg explained how Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft collect data on users “behind their back” while the social network is more transparent.
Mark Zuckerberg: If you look at companies, whether it’s Google or Yahoo or Microsoft, right, that have search engines and ad networks, they also have a huge amount of information about you. It’s just that they’re collecting that about you behind your back, really. And it’s like you’re going — you’re going around the Web, and they have cookies, and they’re collecting this huge amount of information about who you are. But you never know that. And I mean, some of these companies make an effort to give you a product where –

When asked if this worries him; it doesn't - only the lack of transparency.
This kind of reminds me of that time I had trouble adding 20+20 together and my mother was about to give up on me:
"You must be the stupidest guy in the class" - she said
In triumph I could claim the following truth:
"No Joe is even stupider than me".

Ah thank God for Joe......

Well, it is whether you want to accept the lesser of two evils, or the bigger. Up to you. But I say any is too many, so at the end of the day, who cares. We're all being raped online wherever we go.

It's literally what they're doing. Raping us. Raping us of our info, everything, so THEY can make money, greedy bastards. To me, to have it at all is too much, but it's everywhere. Not much we can do about it but keep screaming (of which they listen not, unfortunately), and put up with it in the meantime. I've said before, FB, twitter, none of these are really a whole lot worse than any other site online (except here of course).

In Norway those photo boxes take a pic and then you have to pay. But the car or the licence plate is not enough,
Guess how the Norwegian police is identifying those poor bastards?

Isn't facial recognition a marvelous thing?

Here is a good one... Ortsbo Gene Simmons known for his association with the Rock Band Kiss is pitching the idea.

Here is an interview on BOL.

Guess who is behind? MS :T

If you go to their site you can see who else too, Facebook!

Here is the catch, is supposedly free to use and we all know, MS does not give anything for free.

Here is my take.

Is a real time voice recognition and translator; what if can be connected to a Kinect system and also can be mounted on an UAV with mics listening all over the world, can record conversations and translate conversations on any language.

HAL and/or Colossus is coming !

It is hard to believe, but all my worst fears are coming true (and they are really bad).
What really gets me is that all this happens as a silent evolution without any democratic process. And most people don't have a clue.
Image

To give you an example even policemen don't have a clue.
1400 policemen left pictures and info about themselves and their family on Facebook on a police site. The National security authorities obviously share my sentiments and told them to get out of there.

It could have serious negative consequences. Their union leader said that they where incredibly short sighted.
Ain't that the truth!

You think we're not being listened to in video conferencing and Skype and stuff already? Think again.

So... turning it off doesn't work? Works for me.
