IE 10 Will Have 'Do Not Track' On By Default

Postby dedanna1029 » 01 Jun 2012, 17:39

I'd rather be a free person who fears terrorists, than be a "safe" person who fears the government.

Great!
I have no illusions that this is not a revenge against Google - but who cares? This is good for you and me!

Yeah, you get the idea they meant it about SOPA/PIPA/CISPA?

The DNT feature and specially in IE is as good as one of those Fake Red buttons that people place on their keyboards as a gag.
I use Do Not Track Plus and on bjoernvold.com says that is Clear Skies, no tracking found. Is up to our dear Viking to tell us if he tracks us or not. However, we could start testing this features.

Anybody knows sites that you know for sure who is tracking? Will like to see if I get False Positives/Negatives.

Just assume that everybody tracks you, and act accordingly. The very idea of asking the trackers if they are doing it - well - how honest do you think they will be?
I try to give you the instruments to avoid it and I take every opportunity to inform you about everything that will aid you in this task.
I (phpbb) do use cookies so you can log in automatically, and I have given you all the tips how you can avoid them if you want too.
You have to compromise sometimes to get an efficient workflow - the devil always works with temptation. One fantastic feature that Google keeps offering me every time I register somewhere with my Google id is to enter my Cellphone number because it is so practical in case I use my password. It appears to be the only possible option - but if you look for 30 minutes with a looking glass you will see a tiny text that allows you to continue without entering that phone number.
(I am not in the habit of giving my cellphone number to every stranger on the street).

So yes I might be paranoid - but I do not see why everybody must persecute me for that reason
IE has done this to annoy Google I am pretty sure of that - but that is an example of competition actually working to the benefit of the consumer!

Well, we discuss tracking on almost a daily basis here. I'm sure there's a couple of sites at least that can be thought of.

The worst is your Smartphone. If you have the right in your country demand them to give you your data for a couple of months - then we can talk.

That statistic is an exact log of your whereabouts and who you called when. We just had a case here where a Journalist demanded the data. The Telecom denied that he had the right to get it, but had to fold.

They know everything about you...

Yeah, unless you don't subscribe to that stuff on it - I don't on mine. I've seen how they do with them. I have skype, and that's it on it, and even that is only so I can make international calls.

Each time Google asked me for that I ignore it. How cool is that to tie your account to a smart mobile device. If someone wants to track you the best thing is to get a hold of your Tel account. The point is to make it harder, not to hand it over.

And that's exactly the way to do it. ^^

First welcome sdjfhj :greetings
This site does not track actively. and we do try to be open about the dangers of internet. So cookies are used to save passwords etc. You can block them but then you will have to log in very often.
What we do know about you is your location based on your IP, this is standard info in phpbb. This can be faked by the use of a proxy. We are very aware of your privacy and consider it to be a human right.
We respect your right to keep some doors closed, and no one will suspect you for having anything to hide if you do.
Personally I like to keep the door to the Toilet closed - this does not mean that I plan an attack on society. :-D

PS: While we greatly appreciate your relevant participation here I find your signature a bit on the "dark side", because of the lack of IT relevancy. As long as you contribute on topic we will tolerate it : 8-)
