And got a Gnome that was as slow as a turtle on Valium using close to 100% cpu - and it was the gnome-shell that was using it. Now there are bugreports all over the place to confirm this behavior. And since I had made the trasnsition to systemd the good old CTRL+BACK SPACE does not work anymore...
So there was a lot of rebooting.
All the extensions stoped working of course - because Gnome has become a core for external plugins/addons that are not supported. So they simply do not care about all the addons that provide the lost functionality.
If I go to the extension site I get the message that my Gnome is not up to date:
I discovered that adding my user to the video group did work wonders on the cpu load
