Description :
This package contains the Palimpsest disk management application.
Palimpsest supports partitioning, file system creation, encryption,
RAID, SMART monitoring, etc.I caught wind of this, somehow, during google searching about drive information. It seems very capable for that, showing serial number and firmware version, a couple of things that interest me from time to time, and appears to have a lot of advanced capability, most of which I haven't dipped into.
You might notice the Benchmark buttons, another topic that's been on my mind, what with my new (old tech, sata II) ssd. From what I have read, the write benchmark will only work on an empty disk. The read mark shows very good performance for my ssd, especially seek time, but I'm a bit unconvinced as the hdparm -tT benchmark is lower.
