Specifically, in detail please? I've seen things here on the forum about it, but nothing gets down to a detailed description of it and what's so great about it.
Would someone please enlighten me? I don't think I'd want a distro with it, but I'd like to know anyway. Rosa seems KDE-centric which I'm not, but I'd like to know if I'm right on that or not as well.
Thanks.

Re: What's so great about Rosa?
Yes Rosa is Kde centric. It is "Mandriva" and it works pretty well. It has a good way of organizing documents and pics after a timeline which often is easier than trying to search for a name that you might - or might not remember.
It is rpm5 based and uses urpm and Rosalab has developed some tools of their own like the menu.
They have provided the build system - ABF - that Openmandriva uses,
Rosa seems to be the center in the Mandriva family. I have a hard time to separate it from Openmandriva - someone whispered in my ear that Openmandriva is only Rosa with a different wallpaper.
They have dropped some drak tools like drakx-net I guess that is where the difference between Rosa and Openmandriva will be - if Openmandriva makes it to the market.
It is understandable; with the implementation of systemd they all need to be rewritten anyway.
They have several versions and this applies for the "fresh" version that is for experienced users. They have made that with help from the community - exactly where that community is....is hard to tell (I cannot find a link on their site).
As with most Mandriva distros it is a good distro - and the future is uncertain.
They seem to speak to business users.
Most business users will not go for a solution that is not guaranteed to be there tomorrow, That would mean RedHat Suse and Ubuntu - Rosa may be better but the long time support must be certain...
There might be a high acceptance for it in the Russian market - I don't know.
Rosa seems to be very fond of "cloud" solutions - and that is not so great these days.

Re: What's so great about Rosa?
Thank you.
I think I will keep on staying away from it then, and hope it doesn't spread to distros that I do want to use. Arch, Manjaro, FreeBSD, etc.
I'm glad also that I've decided to switch from Mageia - I read here at the forum that they will be implementing Rosa? Fedora has the Rosa launcher for 17, 18, and 19 as well. It seems so far to be rpm-distro-centric, so am glad that I'm done with rpm-based distros.
I don't think I want it - I just hope that by the time they're all done, there will be a distro left without it. When distros implement these things, they seem to let it take over their distro. What about those who don't want it? Where is the choice any more?

Re: What's so great about Rosa?
Actually there is a choice.
The Rosa launcher can be replaced by the standard launcher or you can have both.
So it is not that bad - you can choose not to use it.

Re: What's so great about Rosa?
OK. Well, moving on anyway to Manjaro. I wish Arch, but the setup I do with it takes way more time than I have. I'm dd'ing over the 64-bit .iso now, once it's done I'll do the install and update, and then have other things to do. Will finish up setup later on.
Rosa can stay where it is, that's fine. lol. I don't need the cloud stuff (among other things) anyway.

Manjaro is an excellent choice

Aye, that's the hope. We'll find out if on this netbook it will go. I am having definite hardware issues. My webcam's gone out, and there are a couple of other suspicions as well.
