I think... I'm gonna try uninstalling rpmfusion's nvidia drivers, and try installing upstream's driver...
Will say one thing for it. Something finally broke. I'm no longer bored. LOL.

Re: Fedora!
Yes Arch will bore you. That thing just works after the initial setup. Fedora is a guinea pig so they will almost deliberately brake things that work. If you are not paying you are testing -(Fair deal). Arch is not testing for other distros so it's aim is to be as functional as possible.

Re: Fedora!
Very true. In one way, I kind of wish Fedora would take that hint LOL. In another way, not.

Think I'm gonna wait a week or so, update again, and see what happens.

Re: Fedora!
Curiosity got the best of me so I went ahead and went into init 3 and updated. There was nothing that was present that would fix this. I rebooted to double-check. So, the only option I had was the nv driver, and I'm in Fedora with it. *grumpy with no 3d* - Wondering if the nv drivers will ever have it.
Hey Boss, now that I'm on this nv driver, that would mean that the nvidia drivers aren't running at all (well, they can't; I uninstalled them). Can I try installing nvidia from here now and see if it will ever work? Edit: Yep, it can be tried, and fails still. I dunno. I guess they just botched it on machines like this one. nv it is for a while.

Re: Fedora!
Yeah, that's about it, too. Gonna wait a while and plunk my arse down in Arch for the meantime. The problem being, that Fedora has my favorite desktop. Maybe I'll switch them. Literally nothing is working. I've tried just about everything in the book.

Re: Fedora!
More kernel & xorg updates for Fedora - Oh yay, more to screw up the works. Going for a reboot now. If I'm not back here in some 15 minutes, then know it's because now both systems are crashed.
Edit: Rebooted fine with the nv driver. Going to drop to init 3 now and see if I can get the nvidia driver to go now with this update.
Edit 2: Nope, it's a no-go.
What all do I need to have installed to install the upstream driver? Just the kernel & kernel-devel, or is there anything else? Thanks. Then again, maybe I shouldn't do that, because nv is all I can get to go right now. It won't go with the nouveau driver, either, same symptoms as with the nvidia proprietary.
That's all I'm going to say here, because I'm so pissed, I'm about to rip off a string of cuss words longer than what Richard Pryor in his old days could dream of, then you'd have to fire me.

Which is also hosed from the same. I did not change anything, I did not do anything, I did not "exotic-ize" my computer, or elsewise screw with anything. I just did updates, and rebooted - could not get back in. - it was when I found that I could not get back in that I replaced with a known good working xorg.conf, and that didn't work. Nothing is working. /etc/inittab is fine in both - if you need me to post them for both distros, I will.

I think it is indeed the kernel, and that I need to add to the kernel line in grub, but for the life of me, I don't know what it is I need to add. I have also tried the nvidia 173.xx drivers in Fedora, and I got the same result.

Screw dat. If I'm gonna test, it will be for rawhide. Not only that, but the nouveau driver doesn't work either. I'm in on nv solely, and only in Fedora. Wait, that is for F14 anyway - I'm on F13, so I can't do it.
