Re: Fedora!
I understand that. As soon as I can buy a desktop, I might start installing Gentoo myself.
Re: Fedora!
hehe... do a stage 1 install and post your progress as you go along, heard it might take you some days
and allso you can look back at what you did later in case you have to reinstall

Re: Fedora!
Yeah. I wish I did that the first time I tried to install. I worked with a coworker at IBM a couple of years ago and we both failed miserably.
Re: Fedora!
pitty, it's the best way to work, allways log your work so you can step back and see what you did wrong
I should do it more myself but it's sometimes hard to write down all you do while you are so eager in the job at hand

Go for it. You won't regret it.

Re: Fedora!
I haven't read carefully all posts, but topic got my eye and even though I need to sleep I can't resist.
I've been running it solely on my system since F9. In overall, I definitely like it more than Mandriva, but that's purely subjective. That's why there is a ton of distros to choose from. I'll intentionally avoid any comparisons, I know where it can lead.
So just 2 things before I fall asleep on my keyboard.
Yeah, xorg.conf is not there, but that's not Fedora's "way", but Xorg's. Since Xorg 1.5, xorg.conf is not needed if Xorg has appropriate drivers for the detected hardware. But it's needed for installation of proprietary drivers etc, as they need to load specific module which must be written in xorg.conf etc. Viking correctly posted a way to create basic xorg.conf, then just copy it to place and modify to your needs.
Fedora had a important change in it's development. AFAIK, it's the only distro now that has 2 development versions.
Before, it was like Cooker, or Sid or whatever else, there simply was Rawhide aka next Fedora. Not anymore.
You see, there is F13 in development, but there is also Rawhide, aka F14. Simply put, shortly after release, two new branches are being made. So after F13 going gold, there will be F14 in development and Rawhide aka F15. Great, isn't it.

Re: Fedora!
I'll answer that when I have set up F13 in my Virtualbox:) Edit: And that did not work. It boots with the blue bar we all know an then just a black screen- nothing. Well kind of expected and to much on the edge for me.

Hey peeps, since I have no time to today, please help out Adam Williamson with Printer test day, okay? Doesn't look like he's getting much of anywhere at "that other place".

Ha ha It seems that you have started a trend here b1o: http://forum.mandriva.com/viewtopic.php?t=126552
