Up to you. You call it.

Just let's stay with KDE - not Arch - and that is fine.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

I have been updating to John Balcaen's packages, hosted at MIB, typically. There, ozky's kde 4.6 released announcement includes a link to Mandriva packages, x86_64 http://download.kde.org/binarydownload. ... 0.1/x86_64 but that has not been populated since a few days. I can wait a bit more. :)

Yes for a KDE amateur like myself I cannot tell much of a difference anyway. It looks darn good and is clearly the desktop that must compete with Winose. It is as stable as it used to be :( and I have problems making the networkmanager start on boot - so I do it manually. BUT if that thing gets 100% stable it will be unbeaten.

Until Gnome 3 is done. :)

I have no desire to be like Windows, and Gnome can look just as good eye-candy-wise as KDE. Just that most don't see that.

Um, I was. KDE on Arch yes, but KDE. The main point is that it was working. Just that I didn't like it much. lol.

:) Hence the ? The focus has to be on KDE. I was smelling a longer elaboration about Arch which didn't come, so all is OK.

Oh yes it can. But you cannot blame KDE for being copied by Windows7. In fact if you put your panel bar on the bottom in Gnome it can look like windows too.
As it is it looks like Apple :)
I think plasma has a tendency to crash more frequently than Gnome, so Gnome is the more stable alternative. But at the moment it looks like KDE has more of the momentum.

And it looks like Gnome is more prone to implement Net technology and mono than KDE. And Ubuntu is dropping Gnome. So we are left with Fedora as a standard Gnome distro.
